Antique Pine Cupboard Large Circa 1901 around the Edwardian period and once used as a school cupboard with the remains of a Childs piece of art.
Truly the most valuable storage cupboard with a vast capacity. Large and very solid, well made piece from the Early 1900’s. There’s not much you wont hideaway in this one.
Two very nice wide doors, both with shaker style framed panels. Solid side panels and tongue & grooved back panel. Skirting plinth with a pencil round edge detail to the front and sides. Solid pine top, three fixed shelves, plus a base shelf, and two original pine knobs with lots of patination from opening the doors.
The interior has been preserved very nicely. Must have been stacked high with stationary, school books and all the paraphernalia associated with school life. Hence why it looks almost perfect. Signs of wear across the rest of the outside from years of constant use.
Has a replacement lock but sadly no working key, probably on the key ring of the last teacher who used it.
The one thing that made me smile was the charming drawing of a pot plant with cut out flowers. Obviously the teacher felt it disserved pride of place inside for loving protection.
We have decided to leave the art work installation where we found it for preservation. The next owner can decide on the arts future.
It would make the best boot and shoe cupboard, or a perfect instant kitchen storage cupboard. So many potential uses.
Hope you love this one as much as we have.
Period: Edwardian, early 1900’s
Material: Pine
Condition report:
As you can imagine our products had a life before we got them. Therefore, you will see signs of ageing, wear, fading & marks which create their unique look. An ‘L’ shape bracing panel was fitted to the bottom left hand side of the right door. Lock was changed some time ago and no working key. Overall the condition is a good and the condition is commensurate with its age.
