Unknown Dark Elm Bookshelf

In a recently added, rich dark finish, this beautiful elm bookshelf would make a perfect addition to a living room for displaying ornaments or books.

It was originally produced as a cabinet, made in Hebei province, northern China, at the start of the twentieth century. Our antique workshop in China cleverly converted the cabinet into a shelving unit, adapting the original pieces to form two shallow drawers set into the middle shelf and three further shelves. The shelves are open to the sides, with a rear panel, and thick frames that give it a solid look. The two drawers have been fitted with simple ring handles as not to distract from the beautiful wood grain.

A handsome storage unit made from solid elm wood, that would make a real focal point in a modern home.
