Versatile Vintage Painted Bookcase Shelves Cupboard Storage Unit Farrow and Ball Wimborne White
I would date this as 1960’s.
I currently have two of these available as they unusually came as a pair. The price is for just the one.
It is partially made of oak, the main carcass, top and door fronts augmented with ply to the sides and a plywood backing.
Lovely carved doors and ornate iron hinges. Pair of cute oak door stops.
The doors work well and the cupboard is clean.
It would have originally has doors to the top.
It is a very practical piece with numbers of uses.
I have applied two coats of undercoat and three topcoats of Farrow and Ball Wimborne White estate eggshell. A soft sheen finish.
I have then wire woolled the finish so some of the original finish shows through.
Farrow and Ball describe Wimborne White as follows-
This just off white is named after the market town of Wimborne in Dorset and home to Farrow & Ball. ‘Only a shade away from a pure white, the addition of the smallest amount of warm yellow pigment creates a very versatile shade which is just a little softer than All White.’
This is hand painted so expect brush strokes and minor idiosyncrasies to the finish.
